Judge Hands down sentencing

Ellen Wink Sentenced to 50 Years in Prison for the 2022 Murder of Kurt Lametta in Norwalk

9/09/2025

(Stamford, CT) – Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District State’s Attorney Paul J. Ferencek today announced that the Honorable John F. Blawie on September 5, 2025 sentenced Ellen Wink, age 65, of Norwalk, to 50 years in prison for the 2022 fatal shooting of Kurt Lametta, age 54, in Norwalk. On June 20, 2025, a Superior Court jury in Stamford found Wink guilty of Murder, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a(a), and Criminal Lockout, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-214, rejecting the defense’s claim of self-defense and extreme emotional disturbance. Evidence at trial showed that the victim was the defendant’s tenant at a home in Norwalk on January 20, 2022, when the defendant, following a history of disputes between the two individuals, fatally shot the victim during a confrontation. The victim had recorded the final moments of the argument on his cell phone, which was used as evidence in the trial. The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Michelle Manning and Assistant State’s Attorney Margaret Moscati, with the assistance of Inspector Christopher Gioielli.

Judge Sentences Man for Setting Fire to Eastford Church, Buildings in Woodstock in 2023 When He Was

9/23/2025

(Killingly, CT) - John F. Fahey, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Windham, announced today that the defendant charged in connection with a series of arson fires in 2023 has been sentenced by the Honorable Ernest Green, Jr. to a total effective sentence of 20 years in prison, suspended after three years served, followed by a period of five years of probation.

An investigation showed that in April 2023, when the defendant was a juvenile, he set fires that consumed the Congregational Church of Eastford, a local landmark, built in 1829, and damaged buildings in Crystal Pond Park in Woodstock. Due to the serious nature of the crimes, the case was transferred to adult court where the defendant pleaded guilty on June 20, 2025 to a charge of Arson in the Second Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-112(a)(1)(C). He was sentenced on September 5, 2025 in Superior Court in Danielson.

The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Jacqueline P. McMahon. Attorney McMahon stated, “The damage in this case extends far beyond the buildings that were burned. Those buildings were gathering places for the community that held generational memories for the people of the towns. The emotional impact of the damage will continue long after the buildings have been rebuilt.”

As part of the sentence, the defendant is responsible for making restitution payments to the Congregational Church of Eastford, which suffered financial loss exceeding $1 million.

The Windham Judicial District State’s Attorney’s Office extends sincere thanks to the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad, the South Windsor Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their thorough investigations and handling of the case, and the members of the fire departments who responded and suppressed the flames.  State’s Attorney Fahey also thanked Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney McMahon and Inspectors James Curtis and Joseph Fargnoli for their diligent work on this challenging case.

New York Man Sentenced for Sexually Assaulting Child

8/15/2025

(Bridgeport, CT) - Joseph T. Corradino, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Bridgeport, announced today that the Honorable Peter A. McShane on August 14, 2025 sentenced Nicholas Hall, age 32, of Wallkill, New York, to a total effective sentence of 40 years, suspended after 21 years served, followed by a period of 35 years of probation, for sexually assaulting a minor. Of those 21 years to serve, 15 years are mandatory.

A Superior Court jury in Bridgeport on February 21, 2025 convicted Hall of multiple offenses related to the sexual assault of a 9-year-old child in Trumbull from December 2018 through April of 2020. Evidence at trial showed the defendant abused his position of trust within the family to commit the crimes. The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Kelly Davis and Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Elena Palermo of the Statewide Prosecution Bureau in the Office of Chief State’s Attorney.

Attorney Davis stated, “The victim in this matter was extremely courageous in testifying to the heinous acts that were inflicted upon her. The victim and her family have lived with this case for five years now, and the State hopes that they can find some measure of peace with this disposition.” State’s Attorney Corradino thanked Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Davis and Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Palermo for handling this challenging trial. The Statewide Prosecution Bureau expressed their appreciation to Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Michael A. DeJoseph, Inspector Martin Heanue and Paralegal Specialist Iris Villanueva for their assistance, and the Trumbull Police Department for their investigation and handling of this case.
